The Orange Box
Last year I picked up a free copy of Crossover Games and was keen to enjoy Windows games on OS X. I forgot about having the software until recently, and only just got round to purchasing The Orange Box from Steam for a perfectly acceptable £17.
I've been working through the games and here are my thoughts in order:
- Portal: Single-player first-person action/puzzle video game. Utterly brilliant, brain taxing, teleporting fun. It is a bit short but kept me thoroughly entertained for a few days. Certainly the most satisfying game in the box.
- Team Fortress: My least favourite game currently, mostly because as an online multiplayer game only, there is no single player, (or player vs computer AI mode), to get to grips with the characters or areas. I prefer Halo & Quake online multiplayers, as I was able to practice on my own before heading out online. That said, the cartoon style of the game is very pleasing and fun, I'm sure once I get more accustomed to the game I will enjoy it more.
- Half-Life 2 (+ Episode 1 & 2): The last three games, (Half-Life 2 and its two add-ons), are either still being played or yet to be played so I'll reserve comment on those until later.
