My Move Your Groove

This Monday saw the release of the new Adam Gibbons, (aka Lack of Afro), album My Move Your Groove. I’ll announce my interests here, I had the pleasure of working with Adam in a past life and he is a thoroughly decent guy.

Taking his cue from 70s funk and soul, Adam’s debut album Press On, has been in my top played list in iTunes since its release in 2007. My Move Your Groove is certainly a progression , it sounds richer and more varied, tracks like ‘Closer To Me' featuring vocalist Roxie Ray (of Dojo Cuts) are bluesy, and soulful putting me in mind of a cool, smoky jazz clubs, whilst the big beat ‘International' features Wax & Herbal T demands you rush out and go for a drive with the windows down on a summer's day.

The album cover of, (created by Nick Radford), features what appears to be a one-man band robot, given that Adam is playing most of the instruments himself it's a very accurate depiction of Lack of Afro. My only real criticism of the first album was the awful artwork on the cover, which was a cardboard box sideways on… it just looks silly in iTunes).

You can hear samples of the new album on lackofafro.com. I really recommend you buy this one, it's a great album from a top bloke.
